Always leave it to the Savannah Bananas to find the most outrageous ways to usurp the traditional rules of baseball.
The exhibition baseball team is known for its wild antics, and Tuesday night’s Bananas game against the Savannah Party Animals (part of the team’s Banana Ball World Tour) marked yet another wild turn of events that can only happen with this extremely fun team.
On a hit by Party Animals batter Dustin Barber, the ball went out to the stands for a foul and was caught by a fan. Normally, that’d just be a cool souvenir for a Bananas fan.
However, per “Banana Ball Rule No. 8,” a fan catching a foul ball counts as an out. This out was the third in the top of the ninth, which helped the Bananas get the win.
Yes, a fan literally won the game for the Bananas.
Couldn't write up the last out of the game any better than this 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

As you can imagine, this lucky fan got swarmed by the Bananas roster for a diamond celebration in what has to amount to the coolest way for a baseball game to end, even one that was just basically for fun.
Imagine if something like this happened in the MLB? It never would, but that’s just the fun of the Savannah Bananas. You just never know what’s going to happen for any given game.
