Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson issued a statement following Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser's decision to allow law enforcement to clear an anti-Israel encampment at George Washington University. Johnson attributed the action to the House Oversight Committee's threat of an investigation.
Johnson highlighted the House's recent initiative to combat antisemitism on college campuses, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of Jewish students. He commended Chairman Comer and the Oversight Committee for their role in prompting Mayor Bowser to order the removal of the pro-Hamas encampments near the university.
