House of the Dragon: Scots stars turn out on red carpet for glitzy London premiere

Stars and influencers turned out on the red carpet last night to celebrate the premier of the brand new Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon.

The show reportedly cost around $20 (£16.5) million per episode for its 10-episode run, according to Variety, and the hype is in full swing. It will officially air on TV on August 22 on Sky Atlantic in the UK.

House of the Dragon is set around 200 years before the events of a Song of Ice and Fire as the Targaryan family erupts into civil war. Caught in the middle of this war is Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, first-born daughter of King Viserys I.

And last night, stars of the show got their gladrags on for the special night. Milly Alcock and Doctor Who star Matt Smith led the star-studded arrivals on the red carpet. Milly, who plays princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, looked stunning as she stepped out in front of the cameras at the Sky Group Premiere in Leicester Square.

She wore an elegant black gown, while Matt opted for a swanky suit with an all-black buttoned suit coat to match his black-tie attire. Olivia Cooke stunned in a red velvet floor length dress, while Sonoya Mizuno opted for a sheer black number.

Some of the Love Island cast members were there too and Made In Chelsea's Sam Thompson shared footage with runner up Luca Bish on the red carpet.

Scots influencer Jamie Genevieve turned out with her husband Jack McCann wearing a trendy suit and said the showing was 'so bloody good'. Scots singer Tallia Storm also stunned on the red carpet wearing a cut out black dress.

Former Love Island star Luke Trotman also stepped out with his new fiancée Chelsea Menna.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, which is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen.

Matt, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel and Rhys Ifans will all star in the new show.

Additional cast members include Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney and Jefferson Hall.

Speaking of his role, Doctor Who star Matt, who plays Daemon, told Sky News: “I suppose that Thrones left a huge cultural footprint.

“We're never going to be able to lay the same one, but we're trying to do something original and something new and something that feels like it speaks our own.”

It also stars Outlander's Graham McTavish, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes, and Savannah Steyn.

House Of The Dragon premieres on August 22 on Sky Atlantic and NOW.
