HOUSE of CASTELLO, manufactured by CASTELLO 1935, carries a 91-year story shaped by family dedication, evolving craftsmanship, and a shared belief in creating textiles that serve people with intention. Its mission has been passed forward through generations of the Campbell family, each contributing perspective while preserving a consistent devotion to quality and service. This generational progression guides the company across time, linking past, present, and future through shared values and a deep respect for craft.

The origins of HOUSE of CASTELLO trace back to Montreal, where founder William Campbell entered the textile trade as a teenager within a small jobbing operation. Early responsibilities involved working directly with fabrics in a hands-on environment that expanded into fabrication and production as experience grew. Over time, this workshop developed into a structured manufacturing facility supplying specialized textile goods to respected corporate clients. These early years formed a foundation built on practical skill, material knowledge, and an instinct for production that later supported the company's move into hospitality and luxury textiles.
As leadership transitioned into the next generation, Chairman Richard W. Campbell, William's son, brought forward a vision shaped by early immersion in the family business. His time in the Montreal factory opened the door to hospitality textiles, where attention shifted toward hotels, airlines, and global travel brands seeking refined linen solutions.
"We began building relationships with hospitality groups across different regions, and it became clear how much detail matters in environments where guests experience textiles every day," Richard shares. "During that period, we encountered an Italian textile manufacturer with a shared founding year and a similar respect for craft. That connection became the foundation for what grew into the HOUSE of CASTELLO ecosystem."
R. Taylor Campbell, now Vice Chairman, later expanded this direction with a focus on elevating the brand within the highest tier of hospitality. His leadership marked a broader international reach, working with resort groups, cruise lines, and global hotel brands, while also strengthening the company's ability to serve both large-scale hospitality operations and highly tailored design projects. His approach placed emphasis on consistency across properties, long-term client relationships, and the refinement of service systems that support complex hospitality environments.
From this evolution, the HOUSE of CASTELLO ecosystem took shape as a connected group of divisions, each serving a distinct expression of the same manufacturing heritage. CASTELLO's Hotel Collection aims to support hospitality partners with tailored linen programs designed for guest environments that require consistency and precision. Developing private label and bespoke textile programs that reflect individual brand identities, CASTELLO Design Services works with luxury retailers and design houses, while maintaining client confidentiality.
CASTELLO's Trade Collection extends production into wholesale channels, intending to connect boutique and department stores with curated collections. Meanwhile, CASTELLO's Home Collection brings these same foundations into residential spaces, translating hospitality-grade craftsmanship into everyday living environments. Taylor says, "Each division operates with its own focus, but they're all tied to a shared production philosophy rooted in Italian manufacturing and longstanding textile expertise."
Within this structure, manufacturing remains central to identity. Production in Italy allows close attention to weaving techniques, finishing methods, and material selection, with each item developed through a made-to-order approach that aligns production closely with client requirements. Textiles are designed for extended hospitality use, supporting repeated laundering cycles while maintaining a refined texture and appearance over time. Customization plays a significant role throughout the process, from non-standard bedding dimensions to detailed design adjustments, giving hospitality partners the ability to align textile solutions with operational and aesthetic requirements.
"We're also exploring ways to make it easier for hospitality partners to bring in a full CASTELLO setup across their properties. That includes financing structures that spread the investment across a longer period while still allowing rooms to be fully outfitted from the start," Richard states. The aim is to help maintain a more consistent laundry environment and support alignment across textile systems throughout a property. Alongside this, ongoing education around textile care and fiber behavior remains part of the company's work with partners, reinforcing practices that support longer textile life and more informed handling within hospitality operations.
HOUSE of CASTELLO continues to evolve with a clear focus on generational transition and sustained craftsmanship. The involvement of the fourth generation, Anthony and Annabelle Campbell, is already part of the company's long-term outlook. "Each generation brings its own understanding to the craft, and that shared knowledge becomes part of everything we create," Taylor remarks. "Every relationship with a client offers a chance to listen closely and respond with care that extends through every stitch."
As CASTELLO moves toward its centennial milestone, its direction remains tied to craftsmanship, meaningful partnerships, and textiles created with lasting care for the environments they serve.
