House hunters joke £799k 'messy mansion' could use Kirstie and Phil's help to sell

House hunters have been left baffled at the state of a £799,950 mansion for sale in Macclesfield, Cheshire, as the homeowners put it on the market with pictures showing it full of clutter.

People online poked fun at the home after seeing it on property websites and said TV stars Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer - who have helped countless people sell their homes through shows including Location, Location, Location - should have been brought in to help the current homeowners clean up.

If you ignore the mess inside the house, the five-bed property is an impressive find - just so long as you can afford the almost £800,000 price tag.

On top of the five bedrooms, the home also boasts two kitchens, a lounge, dining room, study, bathroom and a utility room on the ground floor plus a cellar.

All of the bedrooms are located on the first floor alongside a bathroom and a separate toilet, while the converted loft has been split into a further five rooms - meaning the property has the potential for 10 bedrooms.

The property listing describes it as a “blank canvas” but prospective buyers have been unable to look past the sheer amount of clutter that's visible in the photos provided on Rightmove.

Bizarrely, the homeowners also didn't take the bins out before taking photos of their property, as there are piles of bin bags in the living room and even more rubbish in the kitchens.

One Twitter user joked: “Hi Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer.

“I can’t help but think these people haven’t presented their home in the best light on Rightmove. Any tips?”

While another said: “The thing is the rooms themselves appear to be in good order and refurbished relatively recently. But yeah.”

The house is being sold by estate agents Brigfords and is available to view on Rightmove.

The listing for the property reads: “Requiring a level of work throughout this listed detached home provides a wealth of history and a blank canvas for any potential purchaser.

“Situated on a plot of around 0.5 acres the property has significant period features throughout the well laid out accommodation.

“Entered through any of the three entrance porches the ground floor accommodation provides versatile spaces with kitchen, utility, three reception rooms and a downstairs bathroom and additional WC.

“Upstairs the home benefits from five good sized bedrooms with additional shower room with the top floor currently used as attic space but prime for further development along with the large cellar with arched ceilings.

“Externally the gated grounds provide a high level of privacy and ample off road parking with carport, two-storey brick garage with lower ground floor storage space.

“The garden to the rear does need some tending and also has a large decked area ideal for entertaining along with two sheds ideal for storage.

“Situated a short distance from Macclesfield with the wide range of local shops, bars and restaurants that the market town has to offer.”
