Emergency services are currently at the scene of a major house fire in Cornwall, with 10 crews tackling the blaze.
Cornwall Live reported that the house fire broke out on St Thomas’ Road in Newquay late yesterday evening, with the fire brigade and police officers called to the scene at 10:23pm.
Crews remain at the scene, battling the fire to try and bring it under control.
The raging blaze has been captured on camera by people walking past, with videos and images showing smoke billowing across the sky from the property. Flames can be seen engulfing the roof of the house.
A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue service said: "At 10.23pm our Critical Control Centre received a call to a property fire in Newquay, initially 2 fire appliances and an officer were mobilised. The Critical Control Centre continued to receive 999 calls and information being gathered suggested a well developed fire. The Control Room Supervisor increased the number of appliances to three.
"On arrival the incident commander quickly requested an additional appliance and the aerial ladder platform."
The area has been cordoned off with crews from 10 fire crews in attendance, including Newquay, Perranporth, St Dennis, Tolvaddon, Wadebridge, Lostwithiel, Padstow, Launceston, Falmouth and Truro.
Devon and Cornwall Police, Cornwall Fire and Rescue and South Western Ambulance Service have been contacted for further information by Cornwall Live.
It has not been reported whether there have been any injuries or what caused the fire.
The fire and rescue service tweeted: “Residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed as smoke from the incident blows over the town centre”.
