House Committee Plans Impeachment Process Against Homeland Security Secretary

Kayla Hamilton was tragically murdered by an MS-13 member in her own room.

In a tragic incident on July 27th, 2022, Kayla Hamilton, a 20-year-old woman, was found murdered in her own room. Kayla, who was autistic, was brutally attacked by a member of an illegal gang known as MS-13. The assailant strangled her with a cord and stole $6 during the assault. Shockingly, Kayla managed to call her boyfriend for help, but he was unable to answer the call, resulting in a voicemail capturing the harrowing ordeal that lasted for two minutes and thirty seconds.

The heartbreaking testimony of Tammy Nobles, Kayla's mother, was given during an impeachment hearing. Nobles shared the devastating loss of her daughter, expressing the anguish of losing a loved one to such a heinous act committed by a member of MS-13, who was in the country illegally.

After the hearing, the House Homeland Security Committee, predominantly consisting of Republicans, voted in favor of moving forward with the impeachment of Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security. This decision was based on allegations regarding Mayorkas' failure to secure the southern border, which enabled illegal entry and criminal activities, such as the tragic murder of Kayla Hamilton.

Congressman Mark Green, the Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, spoke exclusively about the impeachment process. He stated that articles of impeachment were being assembled and would soon be marked up in committee. Green expressed confidence in having the necessary votes to impeach Mayorkas, and anticipated a swift floor vote on the matter once the absent committee members returned from health-related issues.

Green emphasized that the impeachment was not only a response to Mayorkas' failure to uphold the laws passed by Congress, but also an affirmation of the constitutional principles of separation of powers. He criticized Mayorkas for disregarding the Immigration and Nationality Act and emphasized that the executive branch's duty was to execute, not create, laws.

The discussion turned to the issue of border security, with Green highlighting the Biden administration's acknowledgment that the border was not secure, particularly in advance of the upcoming presidential election. Green expressed disappointment in his Democratic colleagues who privately agreed that Mayorkas should be fired, yet were unlikely to support the impeachment. The congressman stressed the dangers posed by an open border, including fentanyl deaths, cartel influence, gang control, and potential national security risks associated with the influx of Chinese nationals with questionable backgrounds.

When questioned about the timing of the impeachment, Green explained that a methodical due process had been followed, including a comprehensive five-phased investigation conducted over the past year. This investigation examined Mayorkas' dereliction of duty, the human and financial costs incurred, and instances of waste, fraud, and abuse. Green underscored the need to educate the public and fellow Republicans who believed in a more thorough process before proceeding with impeachment.

As the impeachment process unfolds, the nation waits to see if Alejandro Mayorkas will be removed from his position as Secretary of Homeland Security, in response to the alleged failures in securing the border and protecting American citizens.
