House builder makes Strawberry Fields development a new chapter in fruitful relationship with MKM

A housing developer that has used Hull-headquartered MKM since it launched more than a quarter of a century ago is linking its latest project to the firm’s new showroom concept.

Strawberry Fields, a 33-unit development at Keyingham, is being brought forward by MR Builder, a family-run firm closing in on half a century of housebuilding. Having relied on the independent builders’ merchant since it opened in 1995, it is now embracing MKM Home, the consumer-focused addition launched by the firm last year.

Gary Ralph, company director and son of founder Mick, said: “This is a really exciting development to be a part of, and we are all united in ensuring that our work contributes positively to the area, which is close to all of our hearts.

“Our relationship with MKM is longstanding. We’ve developed a fantastic relationship with the MKM Hull branch since it opened its doors some 27 years ago, who have been our primary supplier for all our building material needs over the years.

“However, the partnership with MKM Home represents something new for us. It’s an absolutely fantastic showroom, there’s really nothing else like it in this area, so we are delighted to be collaborating with the team there.

“The aim of the partnership is to give potential homeowners of the Strawberry Fields development a completely unique experience when they are choosing their kitchen and bathroom spaces. They can visit MKM Home and talk through their options with one of their experts, who will help them design the kitchen and bathroom of their dreams.”

MR Builder is based in the neighbouring village of Ryehill, on the A1033 into Hull. its work has previously been recognised at the National Housebuilding Council Awards.

Strawberry Fields will include five affordable housing homes, which will be managed by Hull Churches Housing Association, alongside a mix of three and four-bedroom plots.

Joanne Thomas, branch director at MKM Home, Hull, said: “This is a project and a partnership that means a lot to us. We are proud not only to be contributing to a high-quality housing site, but also to be partnering with MR Builder once again.

“We will be supplying all kitchen and bathroom materials across each of the new homes, with potential homeowners able to specify their exact requirements to ensure they’re getting the design they want.

“This is a real showcase project for MKM Home, which has been incredibly successful since launching in June. It’s fantastic to be working on a development that is bringing some much needed, high quality homes to the local area.”
