Hour-by-hour Greater Manchester weather forecast as parents warned to keep kids out of sun

Temperatures in Greater Manchester will reach around 21C today as the region basks in sunshine.

Clear blue skies are predicted across much the region throughout Saturday with the mercury peaking at around 3pm. Parks and outdoor hotspots are expected to be packed throughout the afternoon as families and children enjoy the glorious weekend weather.

But parents and carers are being advised to limit their children's exposure to the sun with one NHS trust issuing a warning on overheating. On Twitter, the Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust wrote: "Don't allow your children to stay in the sun for long periods - and never leave them in a car on a hot day. Resting in the shade and finding cool places is important.

"The first sign that a child is overheating is when they become grumpy or complain of a headache. "If this happens, get them into a shaded place that is as cool as possible.

"Remove any clothing you can, give them water to drink and get them to rest."
