Hotel wedding descends into two hour brawl among 200 guests and sees police officers injured trying to sort the chaos

Two police officers were left injured after a wedding brawl broke out at a hotel in Wales. Officers were first alerted to the hotel in Wrexham at 7.20pm on Tuesday, August 2, and were called back to the scene later the same evening.

Police were informed around 200 guests had travelled to the hotel for a wedding and " that there is the potential for issues as a result." After attending the hotel, police confirmed a large wedding with around 200 guests was taking place.

Around 11pm, officers were called back to the hotel following reports of "serious disorder". Inspector Luke Hughes told North Wales Live that some guests were unable to conduct themselves well, and reported far too many young people present.

As a result, officers had to deal with several fights over a two-hour period, leaving two female officers injured. No arrests have been made as of yet.

In a statement, Insp Hughes said: "Officers are inevitably called back to what is now serious disorder at the aforementioned hotel.

"As stated a significant number, circa 200 have travelled into the area to attend a wedding, sadly they do not conduct themselves well. There are far too many younger persons present, emotions run high and boil over, officers attend and deal with sporadic fighting over a period of two hours.

"It necessitates officers from outside the area travelling in to deal with and resolve issues. I find it embarrassing that people behave like this, that they can’t conduct themselves appropriately and waste officers' time dealing with this nonsense on a random Tuesday evening.

"Two female officers receive superficial injuries as a result – totally disgraceful behaviour. No arrests have been made… yet… but I can assure those in attendance that we are reviewing body worn video and CCTV. I suspect we will be in touch."
