Hot food including cooked breakfasts is back on the menu on LNER trains, ahead of a full timetable returning next month.
The operator had been running a reduced schedule and catering service due to the coronavirus pandemic but has announced the full timetable will return on February 14, two weeks after most restrictions in England are set to end.
Services that have been shelved due to staff absences will be reinstated. It will mean more trains between Edinburgh and London, via stations including Berwick, Alnmouth, Newcastle, Durham and Darlington.

Hot meals including complimentary cooked breakfasts for First Class passengers were reintroduced on Wednesday, January 19.
David Horne managing director at LNER said: “We are delighted to announce that we will be increasing our timetable from the 14th February 2022, connecting even more customers across our route just in time for half-term school holidays in parts of the country and Valentine’s Day.
“Like many in the transport sector, we have been impacted by staff absence due to Covid and had to make some changes to our services to minimise inconvenience for our customers. We are now seeing fewer staff absences and expect that to continue, so we’re looking forward to increasing our services and encouraging more people to discover our destinations and legendary customer experience.”
Tickets are on sale for LNER journeys through to May 13, 2022.
