The humble hot cross bun has been thrust into the limelight for an Easter makeover at Tesco’s Hot Cross Bun Café. The lightly spiced bread roll will be the star of the show in what is believed to be the UK’s first hot cross bun café which opens next month.
In anticipation of the grand opening on April 5, Tesco chefs have revealed recipes to whet people’s appetites. Sharing is caring after all, and this move by Tesco means anyone can make the dishes at home if they can’t get down to the café.
Diners can expect to enjoy dishes such as Hot Cross Steak Tartare, Vegan Hot Cross Bun Bangers and Smash, Hot Cross Roast Lamb Dinner, Hot Cross Bun Espresso Martini and more. These twists on the usual buttered hot cross bun are all for a good cause.
