Reports from Russian state media indicate that a disturbing incident has occurred at a maximum security penal colony in Russia. According to the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, prisoners at penal colony IK-19 in Surovikino, located in the southern Volgograd region, have taken drastic actions resulting in the death of one staff member and the hostage-taking of others.
The incident unfolded during a disciplinary commission meeting at the facility, where several inmates reportedly seized employees. It is reported that at least three prisoners were involved in the attack, and a hostage rescue operation is currently underway to address the situation.
