The horse pulling Princess Beatrice' s carriage at Royal Ascot almost bolted after it became "spooked" during today's royal procession.
According to The Mirror, Princess Beatrice was sitting next to her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi when the horse bucked wildly, threatening to derail the show.
However, expert horsemanship managed to bring the animal under control.
The national anthem played as the royal procession arrived, and guests raised their top hats.
The couple waved to crowds as they made their way up the race track.
They followed in the path of the procession's first carriage, which was occupied by The Duke of Kent.
It comes after Kate Middleton and Prince William were praised for their kind gesture to the Queen as they led members of the Firm at Royal Ascot yesterday.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were the highest ranking royals at Ascot Racecourse as they took part in yesterday's royal procession, Express.co.uk reported.
It marked the first appearance of Kate and William at the much-anticipated races this year.
Kate and William shared the carriage with The Hon Arthur George Vestey, whose elder brother is a close friend of the Duke and a fellow Old Etonian, and his wife Martha.
Arthur is also the son of the Queen's friend and former Master of the Horse, Baron Samuel Vestey.
The decision to ride in the carriage with the Vesteys was described as a "lovely gesture" by royal commentator Richard Eden.
He wrote on Twitter : "Lovely gesture by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to invite Arthur and his wife, Martha, to travel in their carriage.
"Arthur lost both his parents during the pandemic.
"His father, Lord Vestey, would often ride in the Queen's carriage."
The Cambridges have made numerous public appearances of late, most notably as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, with Prince George, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte playing a key role during the celebrations.
Kate could be seen wearing a gorgeous black and white polka dot dress that looked very similar to one worn by her mother-in-law Princess Diana at the 1988 Royal Ascot.
Members of the royal family, including Prince Charles and Camilla, Princess Anne and Zara Tindall have already enjoyed a day out at the world famous meeting.
With temperatures reaching 34C (93F) but feeling hotter on Friday, organisers riled that the dress code would not be enforced in all enclosures and male attendees will be allowed to remove jackets and ties.
Horses competing in the seven races were also cooled in a special area with misting fans after a recent six-figure investment.
A spokesman said: “Due to forecast high temperatures tomorrow, following the arrival of the Royal Procession the dress code will be relaxed in all enclosures.
"As temperatures are expected to be high, racegoers in all enclosures are welcome to bring water and soft drinks into the racecourse."
On the welfare of the horses running during soaring temperatures, a spokesman added: “We’ve raced at Royal Ascot in temperatures of 32C – 34C before and thoroughbred racehorses are able to run in very hot temperatures including in countries such as Dubai and Australia.
“To ensure their welfare at Royal Ascot, we provide them with lots of water and ice if necessary.
"We also recently invested £700,000 into our new unsaddling area which is positioned to benefit from maximum shade and features equine misting fans to aid with post-race cooling of horses.”
