ANMAAT can win the Rose Of Lancaster Stakes (3pm) at Haydock Park on Saturday afternoon.
Owen Burrows’ improving four-year-old can land the Group Three feature on Merseyside.
The Awtaad gelding won three of his six starts last year and was placed in the other three.
Wins at Lingfield, Bath and Doncaster where followed by a fine effort to be beaten less than a length in the competitive bet365 Cambridgeshire at Newmarket on his final start of the campaign last September.
That race has thrown up a number of horses who have gone to compete well in Listed and Group company over the years and Anmaat looks well up to this step up into a Group Three event.
He has only run once since that second-placed finish at Headquarters but he took the always tough John Smith’s Cup Handicap at York in good style, beating Achelois by half-a-length on his seasonal return last month.
He faces a few similar improving types in the Willie Haggas-trained Grocer Jack and John and Thady Gosden’s Peter The Great, but Anmaat can come out on top and land his biggest career win so far.
George Boughey’s OSCULA can take the Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Dick Hern Stakes (Fillies’ & Mares’) (3.35pm).
The three-year-old daughter of Galileo Gold has been on the go all season and has yet to be out of the first three.
She had been placed in Listed events at Epsom, Sandown and at Chester as well as being runner-up in a Group Three at Ascot.
Oscula landed a first Group Three win when scoring by a head in the Whispering Angel Oak Tree Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last month.
She can go in again dropped back down to Listed level.
Hugo Palmer’s MR McCANN can score in the Betfred ‘Play Fred’s 5 Million’ Handicap (London Mile Series Qualifier) (2.25pm) as his owners – several Liverpool FC players begin the new Premier League season down at Fulham.
The three-year-old Kodiac gelding provided the AJT Group, made up of the Reds’ British players including Jordan Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and James Milner, with some success last year.
He scored on his final start of last season at Epsom but was down the field stepped up to Listed level and up in trip at Chester on his first start of the current campaign. And he was similarly disappointing in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot. But given a break and back down into this lesser handicap company he can get his head back in front.
The Ralph Beckett-trained DELOREAN can land a first victory in the opener, the Betfred Nifty Fifty Handicap (1.50pm).
The three-year-old gelding has run with promise on his three starts, being runner-up at Newbury in the autumn and third at both Newcastle and Chelmsford. He can get off the mark here on his handicap debut.
Others who may score on Merseyside are the Roger Fell-trained COME ON JOHN in the Betfred ‘Passionate About Sport’ Handicap (4.10pm); Roger Charlton’s hat-trick-seeking WHITEBEAM in the Betfred Supports Jack Berry House Handicap (4.40pm); LIANGEL HOPE, from the Chris Mason stable, in the finale, the Betfred ‘Hat Trick Heaven’ Handicap (5.15pm).
At Ascot it’s Shergar Cup day and Dianne Sayer’s REDARNA looks to hold a good chance of victory in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Mile (Handicap) (3.55pm).
The eight-year-old has won at Ascot before and over this distance, although hasn’t scored since making a fine winning return over a mile at Thirsk in April.
But he has been hinting his turn may be about to come again with a third at Hamilton and close second at Pontefract on his two most recent starts.
Running in the Great Britain and Ireland green colours and ridden by Neil Callan, Redarna can score again.
The Ladies team have won two of the last three Shergar Cups and have a good chance of a few winners again. Haggas’ AMANZOE, under Joanna Mason, may get them to a fine start in the opener, the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Curtain Raiser Classified Stakes (GBB Race) (1pm).
Mason may also score on Brian Ellison’s ONESMOOTHOPERATOR in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Challenge (Handicap) (3.20pm). While Ladies’ captain Hayley Turner may land a winner with the Charlie and Mark Johnston-trained APPROACHABILITY in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Classic (Handicap) (4.30pm).
Others winners at Ascot could be Marco Botti’s DIVINE MAGIC (Rest of the World, jockey Takeshi Yokoyama) in the Dubai Duty Free Full Of Surprises Classified Stakes (GBB Race) (1.35pm); the Michael Appleby-trained KING OF STARS (ROI, Yokoyama) in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Dash (Handicap) (2.10pm); Ed Dunlop’s RED VERDON (Europe, Jose-Luis Martinez) in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Stayers (Handicap) (2.45pm); and Boughey’s SPANGLED MAC (Ladies), to be ridden by former Liverpool FC defender Steve Nicol’s neice – Nicola Currie – in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Sprint (Handicap) (5.05pm).
At Newmarket Karl Burke’s NOVAKAI – an impressive winner on her debut at Doncaster – can make it two wins from two starts in the Group Three Jewson Sweet Solera Stakes (3.40pm).
At Redcar David O’Meara’s course and distance winner STAR SHIELD can go in again in the Join Racing TV Now Handicap (Redcar Straight Mile Series Qualifier) (2.52pm). While stable-mate HARD SOLUTION – another who has scored over course and distance – can also win the Woodsmith Construction Group Classified Stakes (4.02pm).
At Haydock on Sunday the Richard Fahey-trained SOLAR JOE can win the Sky Bet Sunday Series Middle Distance Handicap (5.15pm).
The four-year-old has been in good form recently, winning over a mile at Pontefract and being second over 1m1f at Hamilton. The gelded son of Twilight Son steps up to 1m2f for the first time and that could bring out even more improvement and see him land another victory.
Another horse in good recent form, Michael Herrington's GOOD EARTH, can land a fourth win in seven starts since the end of May in the Sky Bet Sunday Series Sprint Handicap (4.45pm).
Kevin De Foy's ROSE BARTON made it third time lucky after two seconds when winning at Windsor at the end of June. She can go in again in the Sky Bet Sunday Series Fillies’ Handicap (6.15pm).
Others who can score on Merseyside on Sunday are the Dean Ivory-trained YIMOU in the opener, the Sky Bet Sunday Apprentice Training Series Handicap (Part Of The Racing Excellence Initiative) (3.45pm); recent course and distance winner DISPUTED in the Sky Bet Sunday Series Nursery Handicap (5.45pm); and another who has a good record at Haydock, FRANKENSTELLA, from the John Quinn stable in the finale, the Sky Bet Sunday Series Stayers Handicap (6.45pm).
