INDORE: Two tribal women were molested by a mob in public during the famous Bhagoria festival in Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Friday.
A horrifying video of it has gone viral, prompting police to register a case suo motu and take three persons into custody on Sunday.
Neither of the women has filed a complaint but police took note of the video and are tracking down the molesters.
The incident happened on the outskirts of Walpur village in Sonwa region, around 25km from the district headquarters on Friday, said police. The video went viral on Sunday.
The disturbing video shows two women cowering next to a parked goods carrier when some men grab them and kiss them forcibly. They try to escape but are chased, surrounded, dragged around and molested in public.
“Three suspects have been taken into custody, including one for allegedly filming the incident. They are being brought to the district headquarters for questioning. A case under IPC section 354 (molestation) and IT Act has been registered. We are trying to identify all the men involved in the incident,” Alirajpur SP Manoj Singh told TOI. The survivors and accused are tribals.
