Police patrols have been stepped up and officers have been granted extra stop and search powers in Harehills following a horrific 48 hours in which a man was stabbed to death.
Several arrests have been made and weapons confiscated in Harehills as police step up stop and search patrols following the alleged murder of Daneiko Ferguson. The 27-year-old was stabbed to death in Compton Road, Harehills on Wednesday.
Reports have been made to police about violent incidents happening in the area. Senior officers at Leeds District Police have now extended the use of Section 60 powers to detect and deter the carrying of offensive weapons for another 24 hours starting from 2pm on Thursday February 16.
