Police were called to the business in New Road in Yeadon following reports of a serious crash at around 10pm on Saturday, January 21. A red car had crashed into the side of Westfield Fisheries in Westfield Avenue which smashed through the brick wall of the building and caused damaged to a gas pipe.
A total of 16 residents were evacuated from nine homes in the area as a safety precaution. West Yorkshire Police cordoned off the A65, Greenlea Avenue to Whackhouse Lane in both directions with tape.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police were called to reports that a car had been in collision with business premises on New Road, Yeadon, Leeds, shortly before 10.30pm on Saturday night. The vehicle caused severe damage to the building, rupturing a gas pipe, and resulting in the evacuation of 16 residents from nine nearby homes while the premises were made safe by gas workers.
"The road was closed between Greenlea Avenue and Whackhouse Lane while emergency services dealt with the incident. The two occupants of the vehicle, a male and female, suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision."
A spokesperson for Westfield Fisheries told Yorkshire Live that the eatery was closed on Saturday but has reopened today (Monday, January 23). They added: "The crash was bad. We have reopened today as normal despite the crash.
"We were open this morning and closed around lunch time and will reopen around 4pm." The side of the shop remains boarded up following the incident.
A large pile of broken bricks and a damage tarmac area have been sealed off with tape. Customers can still access the doorway with ease.
