A teenage girl screamed after finding a stranger with a knife at the top of the stairs in her own home.
At around 3.30am on Wednesday, August 31, the 15-year-old woke up and disturbed a stranger on the landing of her family home on Hard Lane in St Helens. The man then showed the teenager what was believed to be a knife and she retreated into her room.
The teen screamed out, alerting her dad who was asleep elsewhere in the home, and he chased the man out of their home. Merseyside Police have said three suspects were seen running down Hard Lane after the incident.

The teenage girl was not harmed in the incident but was "very distressed" according to officers. Nothing was reported stolen from the home.
Detective Inspector Barbara Hebden said: “This was an appalling incident for teenage victim and her family to have experienced. Thankfully she was not harmed during the incident, but she has been left very distressed and is receiving the full support of officers.
“I would like to appeal to residents to check their CCTV and doorbell footage to see if it may have captured anything which may help with our enquiries and contact us so we can bring the offenders to justice. If you have any information no matter how small or irrelevant you may think it is please pass it on to us as it could be what we need to identify the offenders.”
