Hope Street: Everything you need to know about BBC NI's new local police drama series

The latest police drama from BBC Northern Ireland will be released next week, and we've put together a guide of everything you need to know before it airs.

Hope Street is a co-commission between BritBox North America, BBC NI and BBC Daytime, and was made with support from Northern Ireland screen.

Each episode is its own self-contained crime story, with the series following the ups and downs of those working in the fictional town of Port Devine's police department as they deal with everyday policing in the beautiful seaside town.

What is Hope Street about?

Set in the fictional town of Port Devine on the Northern Ireland coast, the weekly drama will focus on the town’s police department and the mysterious arrival of English Detective Constable Leila Hussain, played by Amara Karan (The Night of), the first Muslim police officer in the town’s history.

In the first episode the sudden arrival of English Detective Constable Leila Hussain in picturesque Port Devine sets tongues wagging.

Duty Inspector Finn O’Hare, played by Ciaran McMenamin (Primeval), knows the real reason Leila’s been transferred, but he’s keeping it to himself.

How many episodes are there and when does it first air?

There are 10 episodes of Hope Street, with each episode featuring its own self-contained crime story.

The first episode will air on BBC One Northern Ireland at 7pm on Wednesday, November 24.

It will then air in the new year on BBC Daytime and on Britbox North America.

Where was Hope Street filmed?

The show is set in the fictional Northern Irish seaside town of Port Devine, which was filmed in Donaghadee, Co Down.

Who features on the Hope Street cast list?

The cast of Hope Street features a range of Northern Irish actors.

The ensemble cast features NI Broadway star, Rachel Tucker, as Siobhan O'Hare, and North Belfast's very own Kerri Quinn, who recently featured in Coronation Street, as Sergeant Marlene Pettigrew.

Brid Brennan, who played Miss Kelly in 2015's Brooklyn, takes on the role of Concepta O’Hare, while Dez McAleer (The Crown) plays the role of Barry Pettigrew.

Niall Wright (6 Degrees) is in the role of PC Callum McCarthy, as Aaron McCusker from Shameless plays Clint Dunwoody, with The Fall's Niamh McGrady as Nicole Devine.
