Listen, I don't know how you go about your day-to-day life. Everyone is different, and we all work our best in different ways, you know? Still, one important thing to know about me is that pretty much ever since I can remember, I've been the kind of person who works best while listening to music.
That's a thing that's been true regardless of the type of work that I'm doing. What music I listen to will change based on many things, not the least of which is whether I want or need to sing along, or whether I need to just get myself deep into a hypnotic groove and power through whatever it is I'm trying to do (like, say, writing).
Working in kitchens, I favored faster music with higher energy; metal, EDM, reggaeton; basically, lots of things that went well with the frenetic pace of back-of-house activities. Sometimes it helped to be able to sing along; other times, the rhythm was the most important part, and everything else was secondary.
And still other times, you just need a more relaxed, chill soundtrack to wash over you, you know? Like, say, when you're part of Honda's Beach Cleaner ATV program, and you're busy cleaning up debris and detritus from across the coastal areas of Japan and making the beaches more beautiful for both nature and humans to cohabitate and have a peaceful, pleasant time together.
You guys, that last part is exactly why Honda made its own lofi playlist. I'm serious.
Hilariously, one of the top comments on this video is a shocked exclamation that Honda made a lofi playlist before we got Grand Theft Auto VI (if you're unfamiliar, the game has been delayed so many times that some people seriously question whether it'll ever be released), and it's not hard to understand why.
And yet, Honda did it, and it actually does a lot of what it sets out to do. It's slightly over two hours long, and while it does always stay lofi and chill, the energy level between the tracks varies considerably.
In a way, it's a bit like watching the waves on a beach for a while. They mostly stay pretty chill, but they're never exactly the same; some have a little more force than others, and some are incredibly minimal. Some are the type you'd ride if you had a surfboard (and knew how), while others just encourage you to wait and see what's going to happen next.
If you're always looking for new chill, lofi playlists to add to your queue, you could definitely do worse than this one. As a bonus, it doesn't just feature a slideshow of some kind to go with the music; instead, it's a video showing Honda and its Beach Cleaner ATV program working to restore coastal areas while the music plays. We hear too often about jerks destroying natural areas, either intentionally or through carelessness, so it's nice to see these tools being used to do something good for the community instead.
