Sports ATVs are on the decline, and you only need to look as far as the Dakar and its removal of the ATV class for evidence; that takes some of the fun out of the equation for adults, and then you have the fact that New York raised the minimum age to ride ATVs to 14. So wherever you look, the walls are closing in on ATVs. But Honda's TRX90X will remain a beacon of hope for the youth in 2026, at least.
One of the most popular youth sport ATVs, the TRX90X, is making a return for the 2026 model year, Honda recently announced. Now, it shouldn't come as a huge surprise, as the TRX90X has been firmly in Honda's lineup for more than three decades. But considering the powersports landscape, particularly the sports ATV market, we should count our blessings or, at least, your kids should.
“The TRX90X represents what Honda is all about—building products that create lifelong riders,” said Colin Miller, Manager of Public Relations at American Honda. “It’s reliable, fun and confidence-inspiring, making it the perfect first step into the world of powersports.”
The 2026 Honda TRX90X is available from January 2026, and the DNA that made it such a popular choice for young riders is as evident as it was when it launched in 1994, back when it was known as the FourTrax90.
This model is all about inspiring confidence and having fun, and ensuring both those things happen is the 86cc air-cooled SOHC single-cylinder four-stroke engine at the heart of the TRX90X paired with an automatic transmission—it's that simple.
The TRX90X has gained some modern features over the years, like an electric start and keyed ignition, but other than that, this model is as basic as it gets—and that's a good thing. This model's MSRP is $3,459, but be aware that this is just the start of your spending because you'll probably have turned your kid into a gearhead for life.
