Honda has confirmed that its 2026 Formula 1 power unit will be unveiled on 20 January during an event in Tokyo.
The 2026 season will kick off Honda's partnership with the Aston Martin F1 team.
After parting ways with Red Bull at the end of 2025, as the Milton Keynes outfit moves to produce Red Bull Powertrains in collaboration with Ford, the Japanese manufacturer signed exclusively with Aston Martin as its power unit partner.
The power unit launch event will be streamed live on YouTube. Honda Motor Co. president and CEO Toshihiro Mibe will be present along with the executive chairman of Aston Martin Lawrence Stroll, and F1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali.
"This is the Japanese marque’s first power unit under the dramatically reformed regulations which sees 50% internal combustion power and 50% electric power," Honda said in a statement.

"At this event, we will share the aspirations of Honda and Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team as we take on the challenge of competing in F1, the pinnacle of motorsport. We will also explain the new regulations and reveal our new power unit for the upcoming season."
Honda added: "2026 marks the start of Honda’s new era in F1, having first entered in 1964. Since then, Honda has established itself as one of the most successful power unit manufacturers in the sport’s history."
2026 brings in a new wave of regulations to Formula 1, which includes power units with a 50/50 split between internal combustion and engine power with sustainable fuel.
In addition to the new power unit partnership, Aston Martin will also head into 2026 with former Red Bull chief technical officer Adrian Newey as team principal and managing technical partner. Andy Cowell, who served as team principal of the Silverstone outfit in 2025, will move to the role of chief strategy officer in 2026.
