Homeowners who rent out unregistered properties on AirBnB will face fines, the Housing Minister has warned.
And Darragh O’Brien said he will “go further” to tackle the desperate shortage of homes to rent than just targeting landlords who are making a quick buck on illegal short-term lets.
There were only 854 homes for rent in the entire country on Daft.ie earlier this month, while at the same time there were thousands available on AirBnB and other short-term letting platforms.
