Home Affairs orders rapid retirement of legacy systems amid AI cyber threats

Ageing computer systems will be rushed to retirement under new cyber security advice issued by the Department of Home Affairs on Wednesday to combat rising AI cyber risks across government networks.

Government departments have been ordered to complete a "rapid stocktake" of legacy technology systems and set targets to reduce their use through a new directive under the Protective Security Policy Framework.
