St George Illawarra's under-fire halves pairing have won coach Shane Flanagan's tick of approval as the Dragons rode a first-half skirmish to a 38-16 thrashing of Gold Coast.

Five-eighth Kyle Flanagan and centre Valentine Holmes starred as the Dragons scored three times in six-and-a-half minutes to end Friday's contest by half-time.
