Hollywood strikes tone down the glamour at Venice Film Festival

ENCORE! © FRANCE 24

Film critic Emma Jones brings us highlights from the 80th edition of the Venice Film Festival. The strong lineup of potential Oscars contenders included Sofia Coppola's Priscilla Presley biopic and Yorgos Lanthimos's genre-defying "Poor Things", starring Emma Stone. Still, Emma reports that "La Mostra" felt somewhat less glamorous this year, overshadowed by the ongoing strikes in Hollywood and the presence of films from three established directors who've faced sexual abuse allegations.

Plus, there's satisfaction for Rolling Stones fans as the legendary rockers announce the release of their first original album in nearly two decades.

Finally, thousands of items formerly belonging to the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury are auctioned off in London.
