Hollyoaks star teases Luke death tragedy in soap's 'most emotional scenes ever'

Hollyoaks star Stephanie Waring has promised "heartbreaking" scenes ahead, as tragedy strikes for a fan favourite.

Luke Morgan will sadly lose his life in an upcoming episode, following his battle with Frontotemporal dementia - ahead of his wedding to Cindy Cunningham.

Viewers knew Luke's death was looming as a recent flashforward scene showed his son Ollie stood next to his coffin on the day of his funeral, but details surrounding the death have been kept back until now.

Cindy, Luke and their close friends head to Mallorca for their pre-wedding celebrations, only for devastating scenes to unfold as Luke dies.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Cindy actress Steph promised some of the show's "most emotional scenes ever", and revealed some of the final scenes between the couple, not previously revealed in spoilers.

She described one particular scene where Luke is "present" with Cindy and they're discussing their future, before Luke's devastating death.

Steph told us: "There is a particularly beautiful scene between Cindy and Luke and he’s having a really lucid moment and he’s there, he’s present with Cindy, and they are talking about their future.

"There’s a sadness behind Cindy’s eyes with that. She’s bursting with happiness because he’s there and present with her, but she’s putting a smile on for him, and making him believe that they can sail off together and move to the sun and live out the rest of their lives together. It’s a bittersweet touching moment."

On what viewers can expect from the special episodes, she went on: "I think fans can expect a lot of fun in the sun that ends in tragedy, and heartbreak. It's probably some of the most emotional scenes that Hollyoaks have ever done."

Steph also discussed the fallout to Luke's death, and what it would mean for Cindy and his family.

She revealed: "I don’t know what exactly the future holds for Cindy at this moment, but I do think she’s not putting her feelings in a little box, I think she does try to find some closure with what’s happened with Luke.

"In the immediate aftermath, she finds comfort in confiding in another village resident about grief in touching scenes. I’m not sure what the future holds for Cindy, but I can't wait for her to strap on her heels, put her lippy back on and get some of her confidence back."

There's also some emotional scenes ahead involving Cindy and her stepson Ollie, with Steph explaining: "Cindy is donning her wedding dress, and possibly losing the plot a little bit and then Ollie texts her to meet in the folly.

"He’s dressed in a suit and basically teaches her a dance that Luke had been learning for their first dance. He shows her the moves and as he spins her round, Luke appears before Cindy, and that’s where she gets the chance to finally say goodbye to him.

"Honest to god it was so emotional. It was actually at the beginning of filming this block of episodes, but just knowing what was coming and how emotional it was just to say goodbye in those moments with Gary.

"I’ve actually seen the footage of this and it looks beautiful, it’s a really lovely scene, a lovely moment and it was really lovely for Gabriel as well."
