Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas, 48, announced he is now engaged to dentist girlfriend Jess Bell, 34, after he broke the lovely news on Monday morning revealing he has been planning for the perfect moment "for a while".
The 48-year-old soap actor popped the question in Mexico and left his partner stunned. "Before I knew it there was this ring there and everyone was clapping and cheering. It was amazing; so wonderful and so very emotional," Jess recalled the moment in an interview with OK! Magazine.
Jamie, known for his role as Warren Fox in Hollyoaks, detailed how he had been planning the special moment "for a while" ensuring his bride-to-be didn't have a clue he was to get down on one knee.
According to the publication, Jamie told the lavish restaurant they were eating at that it was his birthday as staff were in the loop with his plans and came out with cake before he popped the question.
It was first reported the couple had begun dating in August 2021 after being introduced through mutual friends and went public with their relationship at the Pride of Manchester awards last year when they were snapped on the red carpet.
A source told the Mirror at the time: "Jamie and Jess met through friends and have been growing close over the past few months.
"It's pretty clear to those around him that Jamie is really into Jess and they make a lovely couple."
Two years before he started dating Jess, he was in a relationship with Porta Hughes, who was 18 years younger than him. "Jamie was completely smitten with Portia and they grew very close, very quickly," a source claimed.
"He can be quite private but was happy to go to events with her – his friends were even predicting they might get engaged."
The former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star was also in a high-profile relationship with Kym Marsh. After tragically losing their son, they went on to welcome daughter Polly in 2011 and tied the knot in 2012 with their marriage lasting two years.
