Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas is engaged! On Monday morning, the soap actor announced his engagement to his dentist girlfriend Jess Bell.
"Before I knew it there was this ring there and everyone was clapping and cheering. It was amazing; so wonderful and so very emotional," Jess, 34, explained after their engagement in Mexico.
Jamie, who is best known as Hollyoaks' Warren Fox, revealed to OK! magazine he has been planning for the perfect moment "for a while".
The actor made sure Jess didn't have a clue about the engagement by telling the lavish restaurant they were eating at that it was his birthday.
Restaurant staff were in on the surprise and came out with cake before he popped the question.
Jamie previously took to Instagram to share a sweet picture from a separate birthday dinner in April.
"HBD 2 ME," he said alongside the snap of the two.
"Thank you to everyone who wished me happy birthday yesterday and thank you to this little belter @drjessbell for making yesterday very special and just always being by my side and supporting me.
"I hope you all have a great weekend."
It was first reported that the two started dating in August of 2021 after meeting through mutual friends.
They went public with their relationship when they walked the red carpet together at the Pride of Manchester awards in May, 2022.
A source said at the time: "Jamie and Jess met through friends and have been growing close over the past few months.
"It's pretty clear to those around him that Jamie is really into Jess and they make a lovely couple."
Two years before he started dating Jess, he was in a relationship with Porta Hughes, who was 18 years younger than him.
"Jamie was completely smitten with Portia and they grew very close, very quickly," a source claimed.
"He can be quite private but was happy to go to events with her – his friends were even predicting they might get engaged."
The former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star was also in a high-profile relationship with Kym Marsh.
After tragically losing their son after he was born, they went on to welcome Polly in 2011 and tied the knot in 2012.
Kym and Jamie were married for two years.
