Hollyoaks: hour long episode, incel storyline, Maxine and Eric's future and more

Hollyoaks hour-long special will air this evening at 7pm on E4. The episode will then be repeated tomorrow January 11 at 6pm on Channel 4. The latest schedule update follows in the tradition of occasional hour-long Hollyoaks specials in January.

The Channel 4’s current storyline that is exploring misogyny comes to a head in tonight's episode with devastating consequences. Hollyoaks fans are about to witness the storyline of dangerous incel Eric Foster (Angus Castle-Doughty) reach a terrifying peak when he takes women hostage in The Dog while armed with a crossbow, but show boss Lucy Allan has confirmed that this is not the end.

Lucy told Digital Spy: “The reason that he has a crossbow and not a gun in that episode is because we know that a lot of the radicalisation is happening through gaming and the notion of shooting people is something almost distant from yourself – it's not visceral in the same way as shooting someone with an arrow or a bolt”.

Maxine (Nikki Sanderson) is working hard to expose Eric, she has uncovered his disturbing plan. Eric finds Maxine playing detective in his trailer, leading Eric to “bring forward something he's been planning for a while.”

Angus has teased fans on what to expect in tonight’s show, he said: "no one will be expecting what happens". It seems Eric’s series of events that are going to take place this evening, will change the village forever.

Hollyoaks will air its hour-long special at 7pm on E4 this evening. It will then go back to its usual streaming times at 6.30pm on Channel 4, Monday to Friday.
