He may have defended her earlier in the show but Phillip Schofield was quick to jokingly shut down Holly Willoughby as the pair hosted from the kitchen. The presenters were back at the helm of This Morning on Wednesday (April 20) marking their second day back on the ITV daytime show since enjoying their two-week Easter break.
The show was once again packed full of its usual segments and interviews, including Alice Beer getting people ready for the Queen's Jubilee celebrations and a look at the best tanning products ahead of the summer. However, things got a bit tense in the kitchen when Holly, 41, and Phillip, 60, were joined by Ella Mills, the founder of the successful food blog and brand Deliciously Ella.
Ella was showing the hosts and those watching at home how to make one of her most popular recipes - a creamy mushroom risotto. In more recent episodes of This Morning Holly and Phil have been allowed back in the kitchen and able to get involved with the cooking demonstrations.
After quizzing Ella on what she was doing as she whizzed through the recipe, it was soon time to dish up, a job given to Phil who then remarked: "Once again I've not been given the most critical of jobs have I, really," as he twizzled round his large metal spoon and Holly laughed. "So I can't really mess it up can I," he continued to joke.
But his co-host was soon reminding him that he'd been given some criticism from a viewer about his cooking skills. "Didn't you get a letter this morning from someone saying, 'I love watching you cook because you can't do it'?" as she burst out laughing.
"I did," Phillip replied. "A little boy called Sam who is doing a school project and I read it out in our makeup room. It said: 'I've done some research on you, you're a part of my school project and I love reading about you cooking because you can't.'"
But Holly, after saying hello to Sam on-air, addressed the camera and said that her co-star is in fact a good cook as Phillip joked: "I wrote that as a 'P.S' on the bottom of the letter," referring to the letter he has written to send back to Sam.
Phillip then cracked on by stirring some chopped spinach through the final dish as Holly eagerly waited with her bowl. He told her to hang on as she joked about him paying particular attention to detail because 'Sam is watching'.
Ella then asked the TV star to add a squeeze of lemon and a touch of black pepper to the dish with Holly cheekily commenting: "Can you do that?" to which Phillip replied: "shut your face," to a giggling Holly.
