Holly Willoughby's husband has link to her new BBC show as she gushes over new co-host

Holly Willoughby and her husband Dan Baldwin have gone back to when they first met and are working on another show together. The loved-up couple, who have been married for 17 years, first met back in 2004 Holly returned to CITV to co-present Ministry of Mayhem with fellow ITV star Stephen Mulhern.

Dan was one of the producers on the children's TV show and he has also been behind many other top shows, using his production company Hungry Bear Media which he co-founded in 2014 with Juliet Denison.

And the company's latest show is hosted by his wife and comedian Lee Mack as Holly swaps her usual co-host Phillip Schofield for Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof. The BBC show, which airs next week, is inspired by the teachings of Dutch extreme athlete Wim Hof and will see a group of celebrities embark on an "epic adventure of self-improvement, and face a unique test of mental strength like no other".

A trailer for Freeze the Fear, released at the end of last month, sees co-host Lee joke the eight celebrities are 'victims' while Holly looks concerned as former EastEnders star and close pal Tamzin shakes violently after going bare feet in the ice. And the short clip appears to show her welling up and barely able to look at what the celebrities are going through.

In the trailer, Holly says: "Eight celebs. One Iceman. No red carpet. No enjoying the view. No hot tubs. No hot showers. No feeling in their toes, hands or bum. No escaping. No safety nets. No going back. No idea what they've signed up for," before the clip cuts to the celebrities taking on extreme challenges - and Holly's visible reaction.

But the show, which saw Holly, Lee, and the cast of celebs whisked off to Northern Italy, may have been the result of Holly's own interest in Wim's teachings, with 'the Iceman' having appeared on This Morning on numerous occasions.

The 41-year-old TV star told Closer magazine: "I told Dan about him, but not for a show idea, just kind of that he's amazing, and we should do the breathing thing," before adding her husband then decided to create an "incredible show" around the method.

She's also said about Wim's techniques: "I'm always looking for things to make life a little bit easier or a little bit better. And when a friend went, ‘Oh there’s a guy called Wim Hof and he does his breathing thing’. I’m like ‘Well, I’ve been breathing since the day I was born’. That I can do!"

She added to the PA News agency: "Eventually, as the whole process was going on, I was so jealous of what they (the celebs) were doing. Because you could see the transformation, you could see the change, you could see what they were coming away with. And it’s infectious.

"Even though I wasn’t jumping in the cold water, I still came away with changes to my mindset just by being around it. For a show that’s set in the cold, it has a whole lot of warmth."

Holly also gushed over hew new co-host who she said is 'the funniest person I’ve ever worked with'. Speaking after a screening of the show she said: "I've never worked with anyone as funny as Lee Mack. On-screen, off-screen, we had the best time."

Freeze The Fear With Wim Hof airs on BBC One on April 12 at 9pm.
