Holly Willoughby has opened up about parenting as she shared the 'new challenges' she is preparing to face, particularly with her eldest son, in the New Year. The This Morning star is fiercely private when it comes to her family life with very little known about her three children - Harry, Belle, and Chester - who she shares with her husband Dan Baldwin.
When she does share photos on Instagram, she never shows her children's faces. Explaining why on This Morning last year, Holly said: "I choose not to put my children’s faces on Instagram because I know once they’re out there, they’re for public consumption."
But Holly, 41, does sometimes give small glimpses into her family life and has done so as she reveals her plans for Christmas and the New Year. “I have got a houseful this Christmas," she revealed in a new interview as she and Phillip Schofield finish their hosting duties on This Morning for 2022.
"My family on my side are all coming on Christmas Day so I’m cooking a full turkey and all the trimmings, I will absolutely be doing Phil Vickey’s recipe. Then Boxing Day, I have all of Dan’s side of the family coming over and that’s a lot more chilled so obviously anything that’s left over from Christmas Day but I always do a big fish pie and a big shepherd’s pie and plonk them on the table
"They're Italian their side of the family so there’s loads of different Italian meats and cheeses and all sorts of lovely stuff, which is really nice. Actually, there's two things that I’m going to attempt to do this Christmas because part of Dan’s tradition is having this very classic Italian soup called Tortellini in Brodo, it’s like a clear broth soup with tortellini parcels in it and he always has that. It was funny because Michela Chiappa made it recently so I’ve got her recipe and that will be a new one this year that I’m going to attempt. I totally rely on This Morning for all of it actually!"
And speaking about 2023, Holly shared her excitement and apprehension. She said: "Looking ahead to next year, as I’m sure any parent would say that with every year brings new challenges, but the flip side of that is that you’re watching these little humans grow and develop and become fully formed people so I think I’m just looking forward to what’s next to come with them and seeing who they are turning out to be.
"My oldest is 13 now and the relationship changes hugely. You know, they sit at the table with you and you are talking about things that aren't just about what they got up to at school that day, it’s about how they view and see the world and I’m really enjoying it. I’m enjoying this phase and seeing all those things that you put in place throughout their early childhood years, suddenly blooming and I can’t wait for more of that and just being a bit of a spectator with a helping hand!"
