Holly Willoughby was flooded with compliments as she shared a few behind-the-scenes pictures from her involvement in the UK's huge Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. The This Morning host got a front row seat during Sunday's Platinum Pageant.
The eccentric event, which took place during the afternoon in front of Charles, the Prince of Wales, and other members of the royal family, told the story of her life, and the nation, with an eccentric, fun and imaginative carnival-like display and marked the end of an extended weekend.
And Holly was on hand to help represent the 2010s on an open-top bus alongside BBC Radio 2 host Rylan Clark, his former X Factor mentor Nicole Scherzinger and Coronation Street star Antony Cotton, who has recently been honoured with an MBE, following on from multiple other buses representing each decade.
While aboard the bus, Holly described the Queen as the “most incredible, amazing iconic lady” as she spoke to presenter AJ Odudu before adding that the atmosphere is “overwhelming” at the event.
Holly, 41, wowed in a floral blue halterneck gown for the occasion while opting for a natural makeup look and styled her blonde locks out of her face. The ITV star was all smiles as she waved to people in the crowds before joining a choir of other celebrities including Sir David Jason, Harry Redknapp, Sir Cliff Richard, Sandie Shaw and Felicity Kendal, as the Queen appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the national anthem.
Sharing a selection of snaps with her millions of followers on Sunday evening, Holly said: " Day of dreams…. Happy Happy Platinum Jubilee your Majesty… we LOVE you."
The first image showed Holly beaming for quick selfie in front of Buckingham Palace where a stage remained from the previous night's Platinum Party at the Palace which saw Ed Sheeran round off the musical tributes. In the following images Holly posed proudly on the bus as she passed the awaiting crowds.
There was even a very brief video of when the Queen, dressed in green, made only her second appearance of the four-day weekend on the balcony alongside her heirs, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George, as well as Camilla, the Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis as they waved to well-wishes to round off the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Holly's former children's TV co-host Jake Humphrey was among the first to comment on Holly's post, writing: "What an honour for you. Well deserved. You look amazing." And fans were also thrilled for Holly.
@xhollys.healthy.habitsx commented: "National Treasure. Gorgeous human!" @spires.carol replied: "You looked so happy and genuinely overwhelmed by it all! Lucky you!!" @janinelinzi wrote: "You looked absolutely beautiful, I bet you couldn’t believe what you were seeing."
@ hackett.damien shared: " Looking absolutely gorgeous Holly hope you had a beautiful day." @ roseinblack21 added: " Lovely to see how touched you were when H M appeared at the balcony and singing the national anthem," referring to Holly being captured during the BBC's coverage looking emotional following the rendition of God Save the Queen.
The mum-of-three also re-shared a snapshot of that specific moment to her Instagram Story. It showed her looking on in awe with her hands held to her chest as she stood alongside Rylan for the special moment. "Aww what an incredible shot," the original poster wrote as Holly replied: "The happiest of times," with a red heart.
The royal family had planned to see a display by the Red Arrows from their balcony vantage point, but it was called off due to the low clouds which had threatened rain all day.
