Holly Willoughby has baffled fans after she let her eight-year-old son loose with a pair of scissors on her blonde locks.
The This Morning presenter took to her Instagram to show her 8.1million followers her son’s hairdressing skills as he snipped her iconic hair into a new style.
The little boy’s hand could be seen chopping his mum’s tresses as an adult’s hand held onto a comb to keep his cutting line straight.
Holly, 41, captioned the clip: “Chester decided it was time… When your 8-year-old gets hold of the scissors…”
But her fans were confused by the post, with many thinking she was letting her son cut her a whole new style.
Some took to the comments, baffled by her “brave” decision, with one writing: “Ohhhh no lol I’m a hair dresser anxiously kicked in lol.” [sic]
“Wow you are brave,” another wrote, while others were crueller and branded her decision “stupid”.
Other followers jumped to her defence and called out mean comments, feeling obliged to explain how Holly had only let him take the scissors to her locks with another adult’s supervision.
One wrote: “Some of the comments are so harsh, obviously she’s getting it cut properly and let Chester join in to include him. And for all you know she might be getting it dyed next. Give the girl a break.”
Another blasted: “Seriously are people really this dumb now.
“Why do you people in the comments think she is letting her son do a full cut. Do you honestly think her hair stylist isn’t standing there to give Holly her new style.”
A third wrote: “Some of the comments are so harsh, obviously she’s getting it cut properly and let Chester join in to include him. And for all you know she might be getting it dyed next. Give the girl a break.”
Holly’s new hair do comes after she made her first ITV return of the New Year alongside Phillip Schofield on Monday.
The ITV duo returned having beaten the BBC in the Christmas Day ratings.
They pulled in 1.3million viewers for their festive show, easily smashing the 880,000 who tuned in to BBC1 at the same time, 10am to noon, for the Christmas Morning Service and Songs of Praise.
