Holly Willoughby is reportedly an "emotional wreck" following intense backlash after Phillip Schofield confessed to an affair with a 'younger male colleague'.
The 42-year-old has been the centre of the Phillip scandal after he confessed to an 'unwise, but not illegal' affair with a younger colleague. Holly is currently on a half term break from the show amid the ongoing drama with her former This Morning co-star.
Previous reports indicated that Holly was determined to ride out the scandal, and return to the ITV sofa next week but she is growing more concerned for her family. In a statement issued last week, Holly said that learning Schofield had lied to her about the affair had been “hurtful”.
This comes after former This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes appeared on GB News and let rip into Phil and Holly. “I don’t think you will ever see Holly Willoughby back on the couch,” he claimed to interviewer Dan Wootton.
Holly, who shares her three children Harry, 13, Belle, 11, and Chester, 7, with husband Dan Baldwin, is “completely crushed” and is an “emotional wreck”. While she was previously determined to stay on This Morning, the continued backlash from people in the media and fans online is making her reconsider.
“She was already devastated from the fallout with Phil and how everything transpired, so to now have the negative spotlight turned around on her is doubly heartbreaking, not to mention for her kids too,” a source told Closer.
“Holly’s children are older now and are at an age where they read things online and fully understand what’s going on,” they added.
Holly is reportedly ready to “pull the plug” on her career on the show “if it means protecting her family”. The presenter is fearful her kids are "hearing things at school about their mum and being questioned by friends" which is upsetting for the youngsters.
"And for Holly, that’s where the line is drawn,” the source explained.
