Holly Willoughby couldn't help but comment as she and Phillip Schofield watched a 35-year-old clip of him on another much-loved show on the latest episode of This Morning. The ITV daytime show was doing its bit to celebrate the BBC's centenary by reminiscing over its children's TV show, The Broom Cupboard.
Phillip presented The Broom Cupboard, which was the nickname given to the very first CBBC studio where presenters sat up until 1994 when they moved into a proper studio, from 1985 until 1987 he was followed by Andy Crane from 1986 until '90 and Andi Peters rom 1989 until 1993 who joined Holly and Phillip on today's show.
But prior to them sitting on the famous sofa, Holly and Phillip opened Wednesday's This Morning and teased that they had a "very special" show for viewers with Holly, 41, saying that the show would be taking a special trip down memory lane. A short clip then showed Phillip in his 20s without his characteristic silver hair as he sat beside then-co-star Gordon the Gopher.
The now-60-year-old could be seen with darker tresses, wearing an oversized green and blue sweatshirt as he sat beside. "Have you seen his jumper?" Phillip said as he pointed to Gordon. "If you look at his jumper, it says 'I'm with the idiot' on here. Look - that's not very fair, is it?! I'd like one myself, actually, but I didn't get sent one of those. Sometimes I think you're taking over!"
As Gopher squeaked, Phil jokingly demanded: "Don't you shout at me young fellow!" Returning to the This Morning studio, Phillip could be seen laughing as he said: "Oh my!" Holly, 41, then cooed: "He's the cutest thing... You are little Phil! As the BBC turns 100, we're taking Phillip back to his Broom Cupboard days..."
But she added: "Not quite as long as that!" to which Phillip interrupted and quipped: "Feels like it sometimes." But Holly pressed on: "As he's reunited with the channel's other famous presenters and finally, the gopher. Hi Andy and Andi!" Phillip, Andy, and Andi were reminiscing on their time on the children's TV show amid the BBC's 100-year celebrations.
The broadcaster marked its centenary last week, on October 18, with lots of looking back over the years while Strictly Come Dancing also paid tribute with the celebrities dancing to iconic BBC theme tunes or songs used by BBC programming.
After showing a clip of all three stars during their time on the children's TV show with none other that Gordon the Gopher, Holly, who also started out in presenting on children's TV shows, remarked: "You are literally just messing about, all of you!" To which the three guys laughed and agreed.
