Holly Willoughby dons pyjamas and goes makeup-free as she shares common comment in candid chat

Fans are used to gushing over Holly Willoughby's outfits on the likes of This Morning and Dancing On Ice but the presenter has now been praised for going makeup-free as she opened up to her fans about an issue she described as the "bane of her life".

Holly, 42, appeared in a live Instagram video on Wednesday evening (April 26) as she teamed up with Beauty Pie to share her own skincare and make-up routine with her millions of followers after years of working with professionals within the beauty industry.

In the Instagram Live, which was then posted to the star's main Instagram grid, the mum-of-three spoke about how she took her skin "for granted" when she was younger.

The TV beauty admitted she would often fall asleep in her makeup, but has vowed to make a big change to her skin routine following a recent wake-up call. "I am definitely at the beginning of my beauty journey," she told her followers. "I think over the years I have taken my skin for granted a little bit.

"And that is the joy of youth." Holly then continued: "You just kind of think, 'Oh, well you know I can just fall asleep with my makeup on and it won’t make any difference.' But then as you get older you think, 'Actually, I do need to look after myself a bit more.'"

Holly also got candid about her battles with her skin in the video to her 8.2m Instagram followers. Speaking direct to the camera, she pointed out the things she dislikes about her skin including a pink pigmentation mark on her cheek as she said: "Look can you see this here? This is my pigmentation, which is the bane of my life."

She continued to discuss her makeup-free complexion with fans while she could be seen with her short blonde hair clipped back as she showed off her bare-faced beauty.

Speaking to fans, she shared: "Now, if it was daytime, which it is not, I would now put on my SPF but I'm not going to do that. If any of you are young, which I'm sure you are, please remember to put your SPF on. Because look, can you see this here? This is my pigmentation, which is the bane of my life."

Holly then pointed to an area on her cheek, which she highlighted as bothering her. "I'm permanently looking, vitamin C is really good for pigmentation, they've got this oxygen face mask thing and it's really, really good," she said. "I'm sort of starting that but your first defence against pigmentation is not letting it happen in the first place."

Holly also quipped near the start of the video that some people wondered if she was feeling well when she went out publicly without any makeup on. "No normally, when I walk around like this, people go, ‘Are you alright? Is everything okay?’” she said. "And I’m like, ‘Yes, I’m fine. I’ve just not got any mascara on!' But now I’m bare-faced and ready to begin."

It comes days after Holly made her return to screens after being forced to take an extra week off from This Morning. She had spent two weeks away from hosting duties on the ITV daytime show for her annual Easter half-term break alongside Phillip, 61, with Alison Hammond, Dermot O'Leary, Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle all filling in.

But Holly was forced to take an additional week off work after she fell ill with shingles. She was replaced on This Morning by Rochelle Humes who joined Phillip from Monday to Thursday last week until Alison, 48, and Dermot, 49, took over on Friday as usual. However, on Monday (April 24), Holly was back in her usual spot and was brightly welcomed back by her co-star and friend.

Speaking about her return, the mum-of-three said: "It is nice to be back. Good to see you..." turning to both Phillip and the camera to address viewers. She admitted: "I had a wobbly week and half as anyone who has had it would know." When asked by Phillip how she was feeling now, she responded: "All mended in fact".
