Holly Willoughby has acknowledged the shock news of Phillip Schofield's affair through a new statement.
Her former co-presenter Phillip resigned from his historic career with ITV on Friday after admitting to a relationship with a 'much younger' male staffer, also employed by ITV. Phillip previously stood down from his role as This Morning host prior to confessing his relationship.
Speculation has emerged about both Holly and ITV's knowledge of the relationship, which Phillip confirmed has since ended. Holly is currently on leave from presenting duties on This Morning and broke her silence today about the sensitive matter.

She wrote on Instagram: "It's taken time to process yesterday's news. When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not."
The 42-year-old went on to describe Phillip's behaviour as "hurtful" in her brief statement. Rumours emerged prior to Phillip's resignation from This Morning that relations between the duo, who have hosted the television show together since 2009, had become significantly strained.
Phillip apologised to his family after admitting to the affair in yesterday's statement. He acknowledged that he had met the man when he was a teenager but maintained that a relationship did not occur until the man reached adulthood.
