Holly Willoughby addresses 'permanent struggle' as she prepares for break as This Morning viewers threaten to 'switch off'

Holly Willoughby has addressed a 'permanent struggle' as This Morning viewers threaten to 'switch off' the programme unless a permanent change is made. The presenter returned to the helm of the programme as usual on Monday (July 3) alongside Craig Doyle.

And fans of the ITV daytime show have made it very clear who they want to be made permanent on the programme following the shock exit of Holly's former friend and co-host Phillip Schofield.

A Craig reunited with Holly to front the show, This Morning viewers were flocking to social media to heap praise on Craig and once again beg for him to be made a permanent host on the show.

One said: "@thismorning Absolutely love Craig Doyle, he's so funny and adorable and has lots of great stories ,please please make him permanent. #ThisMorning #CraigDoyle." Another viewer wrote: "Craig Doyle is just a breath of fresh air on #ThisMorning He's just so lovely."

A third shared: "Craig Doyle needs to be made permanent host of this morning. He fits in so well #ThisMorning." Another viewer also said: "@thismorning Just make Craig Doyle the full time presenter and have done with it. Can’t see anyone better. Really relaxed and funny #ThisMorning."

And some are taking it very seriously as one fan warned: "Tbh [to be honest] I'll probably stop watching if they lose Craig" - with another added: "@thismorning me and my mother will boycott this morning if Craig Doyle doesn’t get the job. Easy on the eyes. #ThisMorning."

Meanwhile, following her stint with Craig on-screen, Holly returned to her other job. Away from her TV career, Holly is busy keeping an eye on her wellness brand Wylde Moon. She launched the business venture after being inspired by 'sound baths' during her time in Australia in 2018 when she stepped in for Ant McPartlin to host hit reality show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! alongside Dec Donnelly.

The lifestyle website explores topics from 'beauty and fashion to energy and healing' and features its own boutique, where Holly has launched her own perfumes, candles, reed diffusers and a sparkling 12-piece jewellery collection alongside Kirstie Le Marque.

But as well as the website, Holly also sends weekly newsletters to her subscribers and in her latest, she spoke about the 'permanent struggle' since the Covid pandemic changed our way of living for so long. "I don’t want to state the obvious, but we’re all thinking it…how on earth is it July?" the 42-year-old started her latest message.

"The pace of this whole year has been astonishing. Do you think the lock-down effect where life slowed almost to a complete stop, means we’re now running at a million miles an hour in an attempt to make up for lost time? Goodness knows, I just know that it’s a permanent struggle to keep up…there just aren’t enough hours in the day are there?!"

She went on to share: The start of July means that the school holidays are in sight. I’m really looking forward to kids not having to set alarms. Having been ‘on the clock’ for most of the year, now that they’re older I just want them to sleep for as long as their internal body clocks need them too. It’s so important for them.

"In a similar vein, I’m determined not to plan too many activities so that we can all be more fluid this summer. I think as parents, we put so much pressure on ourselves to fill every minute with activities to occupy the kids, we lose sight of the fact that school holidays are actually an important time for them to recharge their batteries.

"These summer weeks offer crucial time out from the unrelenting routine and learning expectation that school brings. I’ve finally realised it’s OK for them to be bored! Being bored gives them (and me!) the time and headspace to refresh and regenerate. If you have any tips for how you manage the school holidays I’m all ears. And I’ll let you know how we all get on in September!"
