Phillip Schofield and Holly Willloughby were seen drinking whisky live on Thursday's This Morning to lift the mood following the news about Russia and Ukraine.
Just after midday, the duo were joined by cook Juliet Sears in the kitchen as she demonstrated how to make cupcakes topped with mini pancakes.
Holly and Phil had just interviewed Outlander star Sam Heughan, who had kindly gifted them a bottle of Scotch whisky.
As the cooking segment began, Phillip was seen clutching the bottle of booze as he announced: "And with the current news at the moment, I thought I'd figure out whether Sam's whisky goes with cupcakes..."
"Cheers Sam!" mum-of-three Holly chimed in as she drank from her glass.
Juliet then said: "I'll have some of that as well if you don't mind afterwards? Drown our sorrows!"
Moments later Phillip mentioned how well the whisky tasted alongside the maple syrup bacon that Juliet had cooked.
Thursday's episode of This Morning started slightly later due to ITV news broadcasting live updates from Ukraine.
The popular daytime show was then interrupted at 11am and midday for more updates, and Holly and Phil both looked sombre as the show returned.
The duo didn't discuss the situation in detail but were clearly shocked by Prime Minister Boris Johnson's speech, in which he condemned Russia's decision to fire missiles at several Ukrainian cities.
"Diplomatically, politically, economically – and eventually, militarily – this hideous and barbaric venture of Vladimir Putin must end in failure," the PM said.
He added: "I don’t believe that the Russian dictator will ever subdue the national feeling of the Ukrainians and their passionate belief that their country should be free and I say to the British people."
