MANGALURU/ UDUPI: The Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi District administrations declared a holiday for anganwadis, schools and colleges on Friday, in view of the Red alert issued by the Met Department.
Rain related death: One more death due to rain has occurred in DK district, taking the toll to three. The deceased is Niranjan N Mudya, 42, resident of Mantradi Village, Moodbiri.
Based on the primary report submitted by Moodbidri Taluk Tehsildar, the next of kin of the victim will be given a relief of Rs 5 lakh, stated a release from DK District administration on Thursday. The victim had accidentally drowned in a pond, while he was checking the inflow of water to the fields, between Wednesday 9pm and Thursday 9am, the report of Tehsildar stated.
