Hogs Trading with Midday Gains

Lean hog futures are trading with mixed midday action of as front month August is down 22 cents ahead of the Friday expiration, with other contracts 75 cents to $1.15 higher. USDA’s national base hog price was reported at $95.86 on Wednesday morning, down $1.11 from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was down 15 cents on August 10 at $95.94.

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was down 19 cents in the Wednesday AM report, at $101.29. The loin, butt, belly and ham primals were reported lower. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter for Tuesday at 479,000 head, with the weekly total at 944,000 head. That is 48,000 head above the previous week and 19,214 head above the same week last year.

Oct 26 Hogs are at $84.300, up $0.975

Dec 26 Hogs are at $75.275, up $1.150,
