Hogs Falling Weaker on Thursday

Lean hog futures are trading with contracts down 75 cents to $1.27 at midday. USDA’s national base hog price was not reported on Thursday morning due to thin volume. The CME Lean Hog Index was down 22 cents on August 4 at $96.95.

Weekly Export Sales data showed 27,335 MT of pork sold for 2026 in the week ending on 7/30, a 3-week low. Shipments were pegged at 28,069 MT, also a 3-week low.

USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was back down $1.56 in the Thursday AM report, at $99.49. The belly primal was the only reported higher. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter for Wednesday at 484,000 head, taking the weekly total to 1.38 million head. That is 27,000 head above the previous week and 3,354 head above the same week last year.

Oct 26 Hogs are at $82.025, down $1.000

Dec 26 Hogs are at $73.375, down $1.275,
