Hockey coach fired after admitting to using false Covid vaccine certificate at Olympics

Hockey Patrick Fischer Covid-19 Olympics Vaccine

Swiss ice hockey head coach Patrick Fischer has been dismissed after admitting he used a false Covid-19 vaccination certificate.
Fischer used the fraudulent paperwork to bypass China's travel restrictions for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
He stated he made a “serious mistake” due to an “extraordinary personal crisis” and his desire not to let his team down.
The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation initially supported Fischer but reversed its decision following public debate about values and trust.
Fischer was fined nearly 39,000 Swiss francs in 2023 for document forgery after purchasing the certificate on social media.
