HMS Queen Elizabeth sails under Forth Bridge for post-maintenance sea trials

A Royal Navy aircraft carrier has passed under the Forth Bridge as it set sail for sea trials.

HMS Queen Elizabeth left the Rosyth dockyard in Fife on Sunday after an extended maintenance period.

It has been at anchor in the Firth of Forth since then, before leaving under the bridge for trials on Thursday.

The ship, which can carry up to 60 aircraft, docked in Rosyth in July 2025.

It was christened at Rosyth on July 4, 2014 by the late Queen Elizabeth II, and is named after the Tudor monarch Queen Elizabeth I.
