HMRC warns thousands of people on benefits risk their payments being frozen in two weeks

Around 6,800 people who get HMRC benefits paid into a Post Office card account have just two weeks left to set up a new payment method.

HMRC has warned that those who don't update their payment account by April 5 could be temporarily held. This includes payments such as tax credits, Child Benefit or Guardian's Allowance.

Myrtle Lloyd, HMRC director general for customer services told the Mirror : "Time is running out and we want to make sure that no customer misses out on the benefit payments they are entitled to. If you still need to switch your Post Office card account, contact HMRC to update your bank account details."
