Historic win: Chhattisgarh's tribal girls strike gold in first Janjatiya Rashtriya Khel Mahotsav

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh’s tribal girls have scripted history by clinching gold in football played under the first Janjatiya Rashtriya Khel Mahotsav -2023 held at Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Chhattisgarh defeated the comparatively stronger Jharkhand team by 2-0 goals in the final that entered into the tie-breaker when both teams failed to score any goal in the regulation time to bag the gold medal, the final of which was played on Monday.

State’s international footballer Kiran Pisda, who is the star striker of the Chhattisgarh team, played the role of a goalkeeper in the tie-breaker keeping in mind the gravity of the situation in the match and she prevented the opponent team from scoring any goal.
