A historic manor house has been transformed into a luxury venue that will put a Wirral village "on the map".
The Manor in Greasby is in the process of being brought back to its former glory as it prepares to open as a gastropub-inspired restaurant and luxury wedding and events space. The ECHO was offered an exclusive look inside The Manor this week ahead of its expected opening date of March 17.
Nelson Hotels & Inns took over The Manor in 2021 and have spent the last two years carefully renovating the original farmhouse into a restaurant, and the barn into a self-contained wedding and events space. The Grade II listed manor house dates back to the 17th century when it was owned by Joseph and Mary Warton.

It served as a farmhouse for many years and later became home to a bank followed by a restaurant. The building's history is visible in the datestones, embellished with the initials "J" and "E" and a heart, alluding to the remarriage of Joseph Warton to an Ellen Bethell in 1695.
The Manor's general manager, James McAdam, told the ECHO: "It's really exciting to be a part of. There's a buzz on the whole of Wirral, not just Greasby, in terms of what we're bringing to the area.
"We're creating 80 jobs - that's how many people we've hired for the site. A lot of the people who've been brought in are local people as well. And that's not including local contractors and businesses we've used to actually develop the site
"If you have a premier restaurant and wedding destination in your village it elevates the village itself. It really think it's going to put Greasby on the map."
Diners can expect a number of pub classics on the restaurant's menu from fish and chips to pies, as well as fusion dishes with Asian and South American influences. The restaurant's main dining room features colourful seating with a stunning wrap-around bar at its heart.
The room also boasts from a state of the art open kitchen and floor to ceiling windows. The bar area and lounge space is more suited to casual visits, while there is also a dog-friendly area.
Nestled at the front of The Manor is a private dining room that seats up to eight guests and comes with its own log burner.
Outside, The Barn has been transformed into a private events space available for hire for special events and wedding receptions of up to 80 seated guests. The Barn boasts of exposed brickwork, parquet flooring, timber beams and beaded chandeliers.
During the course of the renovation two new courtyards have been created, one with a firepit adjoining the garden room conservatory and restaurant, and another with a water feature adjacent to the wedding venue.
Director of Nelson Hotels & Inns, Andrew Nelson, said: "We're bringing life back into the building with a full refurbishment programme. It's going to stand the test of time, the development we've done, for a substantial number of years.
"By transforming The Manor, we will breathe some life back into a prominent site in the village that has been sadly neglected for some years."
